Dynamite Entertainment today released images and
information concerning their debut of the all-new Highlander comic book series
following the characters from the first movie.
The series will feature an introductory priced #0
issue – similar to the successful promotions used to launch Red Sonja #0 and
Battlestar Galactica #0 to dizzying heights – as well as the all-star creative
team of writers Brandon (Battlestar
Galactica) Jerwa with Michael (Red Sonja) Oeming, along with artist Lee (Red
Sonja) Moder! And Dynamite is
launching the series on all cylinders, with a painted cover by painter
extraordinaire Gabriele Dell’Otto and 50/50 Highlander photo
cover!
“Brandon and Michael have been working closely with
the Highlander gurus to create a story that takes the core concepts that have
made this such a powerful film, television and book franchise, and incorporate
those concepts into a kick-a$$ comic book,” commented Dynamite Spokesperson J.
Allen. “This is very similar to the process we worked to make Red Sonja such a
success. Now, we’ve paired Oeming
with Jerwa, and Brandon is enjoying his work with the master.”
As far as artist Lee Moder, Allen continued, “The
Highlander Universe is rich and dynamic with the stories of immortals, and
especially Connor MacLeod, and Lee Moder is a natural for both the “present day”
action of the script as well as the flashbacks featuring glimpses into Connor’s
past lives. The comic rocks and we’re happy to put out this first issue – which
leads right into #1 – out there for fans at just a quarter. Oh yeah, we’ve got
the Kurgan in
here too! All in time for the
20th Anniversary!
Sweet!”
The issue is available for PRE-ORDER now, and will
ship to specialty stores in July.
