Rating “T” for “Ages 13+”

Karin Hanazono might seem like the oh-so-cute, typical girl next door, but when activated by the power of a Latreia Ring, she becomes a goddess.  We learned that in series, Kamichama Karin.

In Kamichama Karin Chu, Vol. 1, Karin is back trying to unite The Three Noble Gods of the Latreia Rings.  One of them is her boyfriend, Kazune Kujyou, but who are the other two?  Could it be that one of the gods-to-be is a new rival for her love – Jun Kuga – the newest student at Karin’s high school and a wildly popular teen idol?

THE LOWDOWN:  Calling Kamichama Karin Chu typical shoujo wouldn’t be at all wrong.  It truly is a girls’ comic and, although the rating suggest teen readers, this will likely find much of its appeal in readers younger than 13.  The beautiful art (which is similar to that of popular shoujo manga, The Gentlemen’s Alliance †) is meant to evoke emotions and please the eye.  Koge-Donbo’s art is practically a category of lush costumes and intricately drawn patterns and accessories.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  “Tween” girls (9-14?) exposed to their kind of manga and anime may like this.
