Why so many artists on one book? It really looks like they were rushing this one and were reacting to the poor response to the art in the previous issues of this miniseries. In this episode, the bad guy finally explains how all the various's CRISES are linked together while Superboy-Prime confronts Kon-El, resulting in a gigantic battle that draws in the Titans, the Doom Patrol and the JSA. A lot of minor superheroes get killed off in this story, along with the entire population of the crime-ridden town of Bludhaven. It all feels rather gratuitious, as though the creative team felt they had to slaughter a lot of people just to show how serious the CRISIS is. While the story is intriguing and surprising, the emotional connection to the characters isn't there. Perhaps all the sudden changes of the past years have made readers jaded but the elimination of some old characters and their replacement with new ones has become rather old-hat by now. Massive death isn't even very moving anymore. Heroes going bad has been done to death as well. For all the "big" events in this issue, it all seems just another typical comic-- not the universe-shattering event it is suppose to be. Still the art is quite an improvement over past issues. Although you can see that the comic was done by different hands, it is all integrated quite well.
