In the future, the dead don’t go away.  They return as blue-light ghosts that feed off the electromagnetic waste of billions of wireless devices.  While most drift about harmless and witless, some can take more solid form and become very dangerous.  Detective Exorcist Alice Hotwire battles those blue-lights and any persons or entities that would use them for nefarious purposes.

Hotwire: Deep Cut #2 opens with Alice locked in a detention cell thanks to the machinations of Bertus Rantz, the boss of the private security firm, Bear Claw Security.  Bertus and his thugs caused a horrific traffic accident (the first in decades).  The result is a crash victim that is not quite dead in the company of robotic body containing the blue-light of a dead soldier.  This undead duo is about to make something big happen, and Alice and Detective Peter Mobey, her partner, have to stop Rantz from making it worse.

THE LOWDOWN:  Comic book creators have produced horror mixed with science fiction or fantasy, but probably no one has done horror mixed with both science fiction and fantasy as well as Steve Pugh does with Alice Hotwire.  Hotwire: Deep Cut, like its predecessor (Requiem for the Dead), uses elements of all three genres to create a series that is imaginative, inventive, and fun.  Every page of this is exciting.  Not only is the art superb graphic storytelling, it is also dazzling with its rich colors.  Few comic book artists can cartoon human faces and facial expressions in ways that make fictional characters look like real people – at least not with Steve Pugh’s skill.

POSSIBLE AUDIENCE:  Readers looking for great science fiction, fantasy and horror in one super package will like Hotwire: Deep Cut.
