Rated “T” for “Teen”

One day in middle school, Nao Kogure left her umbrella and a box of bandages for a fellow student who was injured.  Little did she know that she would meet that student again in high school.  His name is Taiga Onise, a delinquent, and Nao wants nothing to do with the gruff and frightening teen boy.  However, Taiga suddenly presents Nao with a huge bouquet of flowers and asks her to date him – with marriage in mind!  Is Taiga really so scary, or is he a sweetheart in disguise?

As Honey So Sweet, Vol. 7 (Chapters 31 to 35) begins, Nao realizes that Miyabi Nishigaki, the younger twin sister of Taiga's old pal, Ryu, has more than a school girl crush on Taiga.  Miyabi not only loves Taiga, but is also determined to make him love her.  Nao is jealous, but her reluctance to be aggressive with people leaves her unable to say something to Miyabi.  What will Nao do when Miyabi refuses to stop making advances at Taiga even after he objects?

THE LOWDOWN:  The Honey So Sweet manga is indeed so sweet, but it also has a decidedly tart side.  Somehow, creator Amu Meguro makes even the tart a sweet treat.

Honey So Sweet Volume 7 offers a nice balance of the sweet and the tart.  It turns out to be a really good read because the resolution of the Miyabi the interloper story could have any number of endings, even a typical one.  Meguro, however, makes getting to that ending... well, a sweet read.

I READS YOU RECOMMENDS:  Fans of “Shojo Beat” high school romances will want to try a taste of Honey So Sweet.
