The first half of this comic book is devoted to a bristling attack on the Bush administration. That is pretty much the standard political line at DC nowadays and writers are entitled to voice their political opinions but why should a comic title that is fighting for its life waste so much space on something that could alienate potential readers-- unless of course, DC has discovered that the majority of comic readers are now die-hard liberal Democrats? Once the politics are out of the way, we get to see more of Firestorm's hunt for the mystery villain who has engineered a series of attacks on him. The story is intriguing but is also short on action of the non-political variety. The relationship between Jason and his new 'girlfriend', Gehenna, is expanded upon as well. The artificially-spawned Gehenna has attached herself to Jason in a way that is both creepy but also endearing. The art also has a powerful look to it, even when the characters aren't blasting things apart. The final page also promises a great pay-off in the next issues, that is, unless we get a five-page lecture on Dick Cheney instead.
