Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season Eight #2 (The Long Way Home, Part II), the comic book continuation of the TV series beyond its seven seasons on the small screen, finds Buffy training new Slayers, but she isn’t the only teacher.  Meanwhile, as per her agreement with General Voll of the United States Army, who is hunting Buffy and the Slayers, the witch Amy Madison makes a subtle and clever attack on Buffy.  Amy also launches a horrifyingly massive monster attack on the castle in Scotland.  Finally, a dear Buffy friend and beloved character returns, but is that friend returning to come to Buffy’s rescue?

THE LOWDOWN:  I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again.  Joss Whedon can write one hell of an escapist comic book series, and that’s what this Buffy comic book series is – superb escapist entertainment.  A mixture of superhero comics (Buffy is a hero and a super one, at that) and action fantasy, Buffy hits the right buttons and there’s plenty of humor.  Once again, Georges Jeanty, in a near-perfect execution of Whedon’s script, is creating visuals that best capture the excitement of Buffy’s return.

FOR READERS OF:  Buffy fans are likely getting into this, but anyone who wants a really entertaining comic book will find it here.
