Criterion
Games announced today that its highly popular racing/stunt/action
game
Burnout Paraside
will be
made available for download from the U.S. Playstation Network via the
Playstation Store this fall. The downloadable version of
Burnout Paradise,
which has
garnered over 55 awards worldwide, will come with all of the recent
updates that Criterion Games has created for the game, including the
recent Cagney
update and upcoming Davis update.
Speaking
about the game's move to a downloadable format, Fiona Sperry, Studio
Manager for Criterion Games said, “Our mission at Criterion is to
provide the most entertaining gaming service possible. In order to do
that, it’s key that we have the ability to deliver content to
players in ways that work for them – through quick and easy
download or via traditional bricks and mortar. For us, the fun is in
playing the game with friends and constantly discovering new
surprises in the world. Download packs with meaningful new gameplay
are the perfect way for us to keep entertaining fans and keep them
playing, even months after launch.”
Once
updated, the Playstation 3 version of
Burnout
Paradise
will
include trophy support (the Playstation version of Achievements) as
well as the rest of the enhancements included with the Davis update.
The free updates
for Burnout Paradise
,
available on both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the
game, are part of Criterion Games' “The Year of Paradise”, a year
long direct-to-consumer program where Criterion Games regularly
releases new game-changing downloadable content that evolves the game
beyond what it was at its launch back in January.
