The first official state visit of the new royal couple of Wakanda is off to Latvia to visit none other than Doctor Doom. Doom wants to build an alliance with the Black Panther for the sake of the planet’s security. Will the Black Panther agree to this unusual pairing? As quoted in this issue “Politics makes strange bedfellows.”

Although I thought that the confrontation against Doctor Doom was inevitable, this is the type of comic book I like to read. I expect the hero to be perfect and always right, only to be proven wrong just like the star of the book. The Black Panther, for all his brains acted as a jerk toward his wife. It troubled me not because he was acting so strange to a woman who is his equal in combat, if not more experienced, but because I worried about their union! I genuinely worried about the fate of their marriage if they were gonna argue like this when they fight villains. Only a good writer can make me feel this close to comic book characters. And I must add, only a good writer can convince me that the engagement of Black Panther and Storm could be in trouble, when months ago, I thought their pairing was bad.

A new inker is working on the series, enacting a style different from Klaus Janson’s sketchy inks. It works as Eaton is still here and continuously draws the best Strom in years.

10/10
