In this issue, Black Panther tells Luke Cage about his first love, Storm of the X-Men and then drops by the mutant who’s in Africa trying to stop a North African female slave ring. This issue tells readers more about why Black Panther has not married and shed some light on his teenage relation with Storm. It also ties with the Storm mini-series from Marvel, shedding some light on the mutant’s youth.
It’s not exactly sure why one should purchase the Storm mini-series, when we find out the ending of her first relationship with the Black Panther in this issue. The Storm and Black Panther pairing is retroactive continuity and almost impossible to grasp. Africa is a big continent. How on hell would two young African teens meet each other there is stretching credibility. But then, Marvel mandated that the two black characters had to get hitched . . .
The artwork is very good as usual. Each character looks different and Storm looks closer to how she started way back in Giant X-Men #1 than how people have been drawing her recently. One can finally see the majesty of the character even if her pairing with the Black Panther is hollow and a cheap attempt to recreate a star pairing, like Mary-Jane Watson and Spider-Man.
