The new Hellfire Club continues its hold of the X-Men’s Institute for the Gifted, but all is not sound as Kitty Pride returns from the depth of the Earth ready to put an end to the hostile takeover.
This is another issue where nothing happens. Well, Kitty Pride comes back and kicks the White Queen’s ass. Those little nuggets are considered worthy material to put in a monthly comic book. This is padding at it’s worse. Really Whedon and Marvel are making fun of their readers by continuing to publish such a shallow series. Although there are 22 pages in this comic book, it feels like there’s about five pages’ worth of material. The worse thing is that fans seem to like reading bits of nothing every month.
Yes the artwork is gorgeous and the writer leaves enough room for Cassaday to show his best work. Cassaday of course enjoys the silent scenes he’s given and makes the best of them. Yet, for all his good work, this series should be cancelled or passed on to a writer who actually to tell a story, instead of stretching a 22-page story into six month’s worth of comics.
