The outcast students of Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High want to kill their teacher, and they have the perfect excuse. He is the alien octopus that recently destroyed 70% of the moon. This alien traveled to Earth, where he became the teacher the students named “Koro Sensei.” He promises to destroy the Earth after 3-E students graduate. Thus, it is up to these students to kill their teacher in order to save the world. They are the “Assassination Classroom.”
Assassination Classroom, Vol. 11 (Chapters 89 to 97; entitled Time for Sports Day) finds Gakushu Asano, son of Kunugigaoka's principal, Gakuho Asano, making his latest move to embarrass the students of Class 3-E. School “Sports Day” provides a good opportunity with a bizarre sports-day competition. Gakushu and Class A are trying to win the pole pull-down against Class 3-E, and they have the numerical and physical advantage. But the outcast class has the plan to win.

THE LOWDOWN: The Assassination Classroom manga is still reliably entertaining, as usual, and of course, creator Yusei Matsui is reliably inventive. The series often offers single-chapter and sometimes double-chapter tales that are little gems of situation comedy, but this manga also entertains with longer stories that play out like cliffhangers or little melodramas.
Assassination Classroom Volume 11 has two good multi-chapter stories. The “Sports Day” story is an edge-of-your-seat comic thriller with a obvious, but superbly executed resolution. The second story involves disobedience and is filled with ideas about the different classrooms in which life lessons are played out to young people. Once again, Assassination Classroom is a winner.
POSSIBLE AUDIENCE: Fans of comic sci-fi will want the Shonen Jump Advanced title, Assassination Classroom.
