Kitty Pryde, Warbird, Husk, and Toad are desperately trying to hold a semblance of normalcy together at the Jean Grey School, but with half the faculty out fighting The Avengers, it is extremely tough going. When Phoenix Five Colossus shows up to win back the affections of his near life long love, Kitty, things take a decidedly sharp turn for the worse...meanwhile the aforementioned faculty members begin to question their allegiances to The Phoenix Five...will they change sides yet again?

Jason Aaron continues to deliver in grand storytelling style with his run on Wolverine and The X-Men in ""My Dinner With The Phoenix." Colossus' behavior is veering more and more dangerously towards "Dark Phoenix" territory though as evidenced by his nearly insane, and insanely self-serving, actions that nearly destroy the Jean Grey School. The dynamic that Aaron brilliantly and subtly works between Kitty and Piotr is brilliant and heartfelt. It also really, really, shows how far Kitty has come over the years. Like Wolverine, I am so glad that Marvel Comics, and Aaron in particular, have allowed both of these characters to remain dynamic and allowing them to develop and mature over the years.

Jorge Molina's excellent artwork in this issue brings a more mature and adult feel to Wolverine and The X-Men, which is fitting considering the subject matter. While Bradshaw's art is phenomenal as well, it does appear slightly "Saturday Morning Cartoon-ish" at times.

This book continues to be top of the reading pile quality month in and month out, thanks to Aaron's great characterizations and subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) humor. Wolverine and The X-Men is a monthly must read.
