This story is a flashback to the younger days of Odin and his brother the Serpent, the God of Fear. Fearing a prediction that Odin’s son, his nephew would one day kill him, the Serpent set the stage for the confrontation he had with Odin. But how did Odin get the last word and banish his brother all these years?

This story provides more insight about the Serpent, but after the entire Fear itself crossover has ended. The tale of predestinations has been done many times with Thor. The whole premise of the Norse religion being based on Ragnarok. But similar tales have been written recently about how son must slay fathers in Thor, so this story seemed unoriginal, even though the death of Thor was so much touted. But lack of imagination won’t take away that this is still a solid read.

Ferry is a marvellous artist with anything related to fantasy. His work is epic. It’s too bad he gets to work on filler material instead of better stories, until Thor comes back from wherever he is.
