Marvel Comics The Mighty Avengers #6 By Hervé St-Louis January 15, 2008 - 22:03 Publisher(s): Marvel Comics Writer(s): Brian Michael Bendis Penciller(s): Frank Cho The first storyline about the registered Avengers who won the civil war finally ends as Ultron’s creator, Dr. Hank Pym, infects the old Avengers villain who had taken over the body of Iron Man, with a virus delivered by Ares. But Ultron is not going down easily and Sentry seems is in the way again. Will the Avengers be able to shut down Ultron once and for all and can they even retrieve Iron Man’s body? This story lasted way too long. Such stories would have taken no more than one issue a previous decade. Although another revisit to Ultron is always fun, this one was too long. In the end, all we got was another promise for some more Ultron in the future in the most cliché sequence possible. There really was no innovation in this story, safe for the way Ultron was defeated. All this fighting served to nothing as Ultron could have been disposed of faster. I did like the interactions with the characters but here, they felt like class A actors to whom a bad script had been handed to. The visual are great. The Avengers look solid and real in this issue. There’s a mix of realism and crispiness in the artwork that makes it stand out on every page. As for the storytelling, it has a cinematic feel that makes this little battle seem grandiose and more important than the storyline leads us to believe.
