DC Comics:

Yesterday, DC Comics' Blog, The Source, released a teaser for Jeff Lemire's next Animal Man arc, "Rotworld," which is described by the writer of the series as "a sprawling post-apocalyptic saga."

Marvel Comics:

Another Marvel NOW! teaser has arrived, and this one is HUGE. I'm talking Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic taking over the new The Mighty Thor series huge. Excellent move there. Jason Aaron reports that he will continue writing Wolverine and the X-Men and hopes to do so for a long time.

CBR reports that Kieron Gillen, with artists Tom Raney, Mark Brooks, Steve Kurth, and Dale Eaglesham, will be scripting a weekly five-issue miniseries, Avengers vs. X-Men: Consequences, that details the aftermath of AvX.

More Comics:

Image Comics reports that Nathan Edmondson and Tonci Zonjic's Eisner-nominated cult hit Who Is Jake Ellis will be seeing a sequel this winter, appropriately dubbed Where Is Jake Ellis.

Top Cow, Marc Silvestri's Image subsidiary, played damage control on Monday as retailers responded critically to Diamond's order information for the free Cyber Force #1. Apparently information pertaining to a retailer incentive variant that could be sold for $10 a pop had been omitted.

Quite a few comic creators are backing the Aurora Rise fundraising initiative, holding auctions and signings to benefit the victims of the Aurora shooting. Check out the Aurora Rise Facebook page here.

Film and Television:

Hans Zimmer, the synth maestro that scored The Dark Knight Rises, has released an iTunes song entitled "Aurora" whose proceeds will go to the victims of the Aurora shooting. It's also over 8 minutes long! Check it out.

WWII set piece photos for The Wolverine have been popping up all over the internet. It looks like Japanese interment camps and nuclear bombs might be a few sticking points in the film. I'm guessing it will have to do with the creation of the film's antagonist.

Frank Miller and Klaus Janson's The Dark Knight Returns is finally getting the DC Universe Animated Original treatment, as we reported last year from San Diego Comic Con, and MTV has the first trailer for Part 1 (the epic plot is being split into two parts--how [Peter] Jacksonian).

It's difficult to separate the artist from the art at times, and that fact is no more jagged a pill than when considering the work of Frank Miller. This Islamophobic, hypocritical, fascist right-wing demagogue unfortunately has put out some classic comic books in the past. In any case, it won't kill you to watch this trailer:
