In Friday's Dark Horse San Diego Comic Con panel, comprised of such renowned creators as Dave Gibbons (Watchmen), Eric Powell (The Goon), and Carla Speed McNeil (Finder), owner and editor Mike Richardson spoke to recently revisiting Dark Horse's original flagship anthology Dark Horse Presents.

After elaborating on the book's original impact on the market at its inception in 1986, the ways Comic Con has changed in those twenty-five years since, and each creator's favorite moments of the old Dark Horse Presents, Mike made an announcement that a special guest was still waiting in the wings. To everyone's surprise and to much applause, Jim Steranko, the pioneering artist that changed the landscape of comic books forever with his work on Strange Tales and Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD, came to the stage.

In 1976, Steranko had completed a graphic book called Chandler: Red Tide, a noir comic book that couldn't really be called a comic book as it chose to defy many of the genre's conventions, like word balloons, sound effects, and holding lines. Now, thirty-five years later, Jim has joined forces with Dark Horse Presents to showcase the first chapter of a digitally updated Red Tide, which uses realistic lighting sources and color palettes to achieve a level of authenticity that was difficult to attain with the prime-color palette of the 70s.

Expect to see the remastered Red Tide in Dark Horse presents very soon. Also be on the lookout for Gibbons' Treatment, a story of a mercenary police force with its own reality TV show, Powell's newest work featuring a robot that learns to masturbate, and McNeil's latest chapter of Finder, all within the pages of DHP.

Richardson was also apologetic on behalf of Brian Wood who could not attend but is contributing an original story The Massive to Dark Horse Presents.
