General Zod and Family are the current villains in two titles I review (Hal Jordan and Action Comics). But the current story in Action Comics is set several years in the future, suggesting things do not bode well for what transpires in Hal Jordan. But as it is said in Action Comics, time is like un-set cement, so perhaps what happens in Hal Jordan will un-do what is yet to happen in Action Comics. If that makes any sense at all.

Hal has used his ring to protect Kyle and send him back to Mogo, summoning reinforcements to rescue him from General Zod. Of course, the cerebral Guardians are more inclined to debate a course of action rather than take it – like none of us saw that coming. I’d hoped Corps leader John Stewart was smarter than that, but obviously not. Thankfully, he can still rely on Guy Gardner to jump the gun.

How the whole of the Green Lantern Corps handles three Kryptonians is yet to be determined, but it seems likely they can overwhelm them through shear force of numbers. But that will have to wait until next issue, when perhaps a minor dilemma presented in the latest issue of Action Comics may or may not be resolved.

I’m ready for this story arc to wrap up. Having reviewed so many DC titles over the past 18 months or so, I have grown weary of the bi-monthly schedule. Perhaps it prevents storylines from stretching over several months, but when each chapter follows another so closely, it can still be wearying.
