Writer Jan Strnad and artist Richard Corben are renowned for their work in the horror comic book genre among other things. In their latest collaboration, the four-part miniseries Ragemoor, Strnad and Corben flex those warped sensibilities that once contributed to Eerie and Heavy Metal and Mutant World and serve readers up a dark delicacy.

Ragemoor tells a Lovecraftian tale of horror, in which the eponymous medieval castle keep is alive and ravening. Its halls are populated by inhuman caretakers, its inhabitants have been driven mad, and when the owner's uncle visits with a devious plan to wrest the deed from his nephew's grasp, Ragemoor can only be sated by blood.

This is one of the most unsettling Gothic horror comics to be published since the demise of Creepy and Eerie magazines. Corben's distorted anatomies and inky, black-and-white tenebrism create a suitably terrifying tone for Ragemoor, populated with demonic and chillingly detailed imagery, while Strnad weaves a classically informed plot of deception, revenge, insanity, and the paranormal. Ragemoor #1 is a quintessential haunted house comic book.
