Nightwing
is in the race of other people’s lives – two friends held by the Dark Web.
If he loses, they die. If he wins, they live, but the Dark Web gets what it
wants. And what it wants is access to the cosmic information super-highway. And
who knows what kind of chaos that can bring?
Guest-starring
in this issue is the Silencer, so named because she can create fields which
blanket sound. I’m not sure if she’s part of the Bat-family or entirely on her
own or what. Apparently her back story is she’s some sort of assassin for Leviathan,
but she’d love nothing more than to retire to the quiet life.
Also
competing is this wacky race is Professor Pyg, a horrible Batman villain whose
schtick is mutilation. A little of him goes a long way, yet DC keeps trotting
him out, as if greater exposure will push him up the Bat-villain ladder. I have
news for you, DC: it won’t.
This is
chapter II of “Harm’s Way,” a brief story-arc-within-a-story-arc as Nightwing
continues his battle against the Dark Web. It’s a tale that’s gone on long
enough, in my opinion. Like professor Pyg, a little goes a long way, and I’ve
grown a little bored with it. Time for DC to wrap this story up.
