Nightwing has been beaten by a mysterious new villain and buried alive. Now, he must dig his way out of his grave while trying to solve the riddle of who murdered one of his arch-foes. There isn't much action in this issue which focuses on Grayson hacking away at the dirt but as he struggles to reach the surface, we also get a look at his inner thoughts, his doubts and his questions about himself. There are even some lines tweaking the fans about the fact that Dick Grayson was expected to die in the last Crisis. We also get a rundown on the whole "raptor-murder" plotline but truth be told, if you weren't there from the beginning, it still won't make much sense. Not that the mystery is the main point of this issue. DC seems to believe that the fans have a deep emotional connection to Grayson that goes beyond his detective skills or acrobatics and they sure play up that connection in this issue. There are still some plot loopholes that need fixing up but the important thing is that we bond even closer to Nightwing now that we know more of his inner self. The art isn't great but it is surprisingly gritty and fluid something from Jurgens. Maybe they teamed him with Rapmund to precisely achieve this effect.
