What Is It About?
Dr. Erasmus Q. Bedfellow is bent on releasing the creatures of the Fantasy Realm into our dimension, using the creatures of nightmares to rule the world. Only one thing stands in his way. An unlikely group of heroes – the result of bedfellows last attempt to breach the border between realities – Big Foot, Sasquatch, Skunk Ape, and The Yeti.

Thoughts?
This is the kind of story that makes child and adult want to stand up and cheer. Dale Mettam’s writing is witty and creative. He pulls no punches especially on the comedy, and had me laughing within the first few pages. The pop culture references are laugh out loud funny for adults while still being clean and enjoyable for the kids. The Missing Linx trade entertains from beginning to end.

The four main characters are a ragtag group of mythological creatures from another dimension. Drawn by Courtney Huddleston, the large ape like bipedal creatures are crisp, and have a classic Saturday morning cartoon look to them. The story begins on a time-honored father takes sons camping trip in the Henry Jones Jr. National Park. No time is wasted getting to the action as the three human characters, Owen and his two sons Zach and Luke find themselves face to face with a giant pink lion looking creature who apparently has a taste for human. They are quickly saved by our mixed group of Bigfoot type creatures who take the reluctant family on a whirl wind adventure.

Dale and Courtney do a good job distinguishing the four apart by giving them each very different demeanors and attributes. Skunk Ape is extremely intelligent and runs around in a lab coat. The Yeti is a vegetarian who provides the fast talking comedic relief. Sasquatch provides the muscle and one of my favorite lines in the book as he prepares to bash a bad guy he yells “Sass Smash” an obvious homage to the Hulk. Again, lots of hilarious pop culture references. Their leader is a Bigfoot with a bit of a bad boy attitude.

Their human counter parts are equally as entertaining. The father Owen plays the over concerned father role who just wants to bond with his sons. Young boys reading this will find the younger brother Luke easy to relate to. He’s excited by the whole adventure and his older brother Zach is a stereotypical teenager who thinks the whole thing is an elaborate trick by his father to get him to have fun. The villain Dr. Bedfellow and his sidekick Chan are a perfect bad guy comedy team.

Dr. Bedfellow unleashes an array of monsters and mythological heroes in his attempt to take over the world. The character designs and bright colors really bring the monsters and their world to life. Viper has another hit on their hands with Missing Linx. Everything about this book has a classic comic feel to it. It works so well that it only enhances your enjoyment of the story as a whole. I can’t wait to hand this one over to my kids so they can enjoy this one as much as I did.

Verdict?
This is definitely a winner. One of the best all ages comedy comics I’ve read in awhile. For it’s genre you will be hard pressed to find better. At the price Viper is offering this one is a no brainer! Buy, Bag, and Board.
