More
bang for your buck, as this issue features four scenarios, though two of them
are rather brief. Foghorn Leghorn stars in “Baa-Baa Boo-Boo,” while Marvin the
Martian attempts a take-over of Earth which ends up being scratched due to that
old Star Trek chestnut, “transporter malfunction.”
But
in the two primary stories, Daffy Duck runs amuck against Porky Pig and Elmer
Fudd, individually. First, Porky joins Daffy’s gym, only to suffer a level of
physical abuse only cartoon characters can survive. But in the end, Porky has
his revenge. However, the shoe is on the other foot when Daffy invades Elmer
Fudd’s home impairment show. Power tools (from Acme, no less) and Looney Tunes
could be a lethal combination, were it not for the physics of the animated
world.
One
thing I especially enjoy about the Looney
Tunes comic is the occasional appearance by D-list characters. Last issue
featured cowboy villain Nasty Canasta; this issue features a cameo by wrestler
known simply as “the Crusher.” To quote Bugs Bunny, “Why Crusher, it’s good to
see ya.” I look forward to more, especially if Pete Puma shows up in a future
issue.
If
I have a problem with all-ages books such as Looney Tunes and Scooby-Doo,
it’s the price point. Personally, I feel it’s a bit high for an all-ages book,
but the cost of printing doesn’t vary from one title to another. I would prefer
to see all-ages books at a lower cost, and more availability at convenience
stores and supermarkets, where they can catch the eye of smaller children.
