I always appreciate the effort to further develop minor characters, because often there are fewer boundaries, and a wider margin for error. So seeing Charlie Dog in the featured story in this issue is a bit of treat.

Charlie pitches two gangsters – Rocky and his henchman Mugsy – his usual line: “You aint got no dog and I aint got no master,” all in a bid for a permanent home. Of course, the last thing the two bank robbers want is someone else horning in on their action. Not only would they have to split the take, but how do they know Charlie won’t squeal to the cops?

The second story features Daffy Duck in salesman mode, trying to separate the Three Little Pigs from their hard-earned dough. He’s nothing if not perthithtent, and the pigs are dethperate to be rid of the Duck Who Came to Dinner.

The book also features a couple of single-page vignettes; spoofs of Little Bo Peep and The Blair Witch Project. The best that can be said for either is they fill space. Maybe there was a seed of an idea for a greater story, but if a one page is all the writer can muster, well, maybe it’s not even worth that.
