This musical will appeal mainly to religious Christian audiences, thanks to its omnipresent theme of salvation through love and God. Les Misérables is a major film production adapting a musical play which was also based on the original 19th century novel by the French author. The story is woven through 1830s anti-monarchist rebellions in France where Valjean tries to protect his adopted adult Cossette. I enjoyed the film the first time I saw at in the theatre. I was overtaken by the message of love and hope. This is a great movie that makes for an epic movie-watching night for home viewers. Because it is a home edition, it comes with commentaries by the film’s director Tom Hooper. The director reveals a lot of background information on the production which will appeal to hardcore and casual movie viewers. Extra features include more background information on the movie. I wrote a more extensive review of this film that covers the plot more extensively. Released just before the Easter religious holiday, this film is the most Christian-inspired film in the last few years. © Copyright 2002-2025 by Toon Doctor Inc. - All rights Reserved.
