There a diversion is created to allow a small team to infiltrate the castle and stop Obsidian and the Golden Age Green Lantern, who captured his old friends, the Golden Age Flash, the Golden Age Wildcat, Starman and more. But Green Lantern Kyle Rainer is sent to the moon on order of the Guardians of the Universe to kill Alan Scott, the Golden Age Green Lantern. Will he execute his task? Much of this story goes through motions with characters fighting green constructs created by Alan Scott. I have to say that I’m not a fan of Obsidian being turned into a villain so soon after having been “fixed” of his anger and “evil” ways in the last storyline published in Justice Society of America prior this crossover. It seems odd and reusing the old theme of the evil and conflicted Obsidian. The story is an obstacle race with a few character moments where we can understand their motivations fully. Robinson is always careful to add these to his stories so they are not just action-based fillers. This one did not feel as interesting to me though. The visuals have not changed and continue to be powerful under Bagley’s guidance.
