Potential new JSA members are introduced as the Heartbreak Killer strikes again. This issue is as entertaining as it could possibly be, considering there is very little action and the new recruits aren't fleshed out too well. It appears that the creative team expects the very novelty of meeting these new superheroes will be enough to thrill the readers. So far, we don't see much of how they would fare in a super-powered conflict so it is hard to tell whether any of these characters will have a lasting effect.

There is a little re-writing of history here (guess who caught James Earl Ray) and the mysteries of the Heartbreak Killer and the Kingdom Come Superman appear to be coming together but this team is really getting overcrowded, making it hard to produce stories that give everyone his due. Apparently, some big shake-up is coming but for now, so many things in this book just look  superfluous-- like a second daughter for Black Lightning!!

The art, like the story, is a little too-busy but at least it projects a sense of power and excitement, even if the characters are just sitting down and talking. One major complaint is that Wildcat, who is in a boxing match, just looks clumsy and amateurish. Sure, he is failing to land a punch but he should at least be able to throw the punch like an expert.

This gets a middling three stars although it could have very easily garnered four and a half stars.
