Invincible, a pawn in the plot is angry and wants to terminate the villain once and for all. But for all his anger Dinosaurus is able to contextualize and justify his “accomplishment.” I haven’t read Invincible for months and it feels like nothing has changed. This issue itself has very little progress and changes. I feel like this issue was padded to only constitute one huge conversation between Invincible and Dinosaurus that was not even consequential. Most of the story was told through huge page spreads featuring Dinosaurus fighting invincible. In terms of entertainment, nothing was added to the story or informed the reader in any way. I used to enjoy Invincible although I’ve always felt that the stories ended too quickly and did not have enough contents. This issue shows the worst of this series in an attempt to reach the magical number #100. In essence, a series which started as refreshing way to look at super heroes is becoming a parody of the worst excesses of the super hero genre in terms of storytelling. Ottley has always excelled at doing huge fights with gore and exploding environments. He does so here but although the artworks is as dynamic as ever, there is no logical progression in the artwork. It’s just a series of spreads. There is a sense that the fight has been choreographed. But there is no movement in the story per say. By the time the last panel on the last page appears, it feels as if it had been staged with several intervening chapters missing in the account.
