Invincible decides he’s going to free a villain from jail, but he first asks Eve about it. His action may trigger a huge retaliation from Cecil. Is that a risk Mark Grayson is willing to take?

This is a short issue which is more a set up for a future larger epic. This is the new gentle Invincible that wants to preserve life on Earth. But by the end of the issue he’s made himself into a super villain of sort. That should keep this series in suspense for a while. And that’s good, because I was starting to think that nothing else would happen again with Invincible. It’s always been a good series, but it goes through crazy story-arcs and then it pauses for moments. Seems like the break is over.

Ottley was drawing this issue. He didn’t draw Invincible #85 and that was a lot. I know he’s not the original creator, but he’s probably contributed more to Invincible than any other artist for several years now. His work can become a caricature at times – Eve is not exactly beautiful this issue. Yet, the visual pacing is fast and dynamic.
