Kara, Kal El’s Krytonian cousin is living in Kahndaq with Black Adam hidden from everyone until the day where Damian visits, asking for help. It’s not love at first sight but Damian attempts to recruit Kara in his crusade and free her from her soft captivity with Black Adam. But Black Adam has other plans for Kara and Damian.

I don’t know if there will be a romantic relationship between Kara and Damian, but I love how they interacted in this comic. Damian is more experienced in life, cunning, devious, but also somewhat good and remorseful. Kara is an innocent naïve but with the right set of values. Most of the story is a cat and mouse game between Kara, Damian, and Black Adam with the usual rescue of innocent bystanders and evil soldiers thrown it. The story is not new and is predictable, but Tom Taylor tells it quite well and make us care for these characters. I enjoy how taking familiar characters and putting them in an elseworld setting can create good drama.

I like Mike S. Miller’s work here, but I will not say more as he his personal politics have affected many people in the comic industry. He is not a good person and has wasted his talent and its potential reach to peddle cultural wars and attack creators and fans who support diversity. His Kara is not exactly the best that I have seen, but it is too bad that is he is better known for his atrocious politics, rants, and attacks, rather than his work which is good.
