A
brief interlude as Harley and her team gather the pieces of their Pyrric
victory, and mourn their dead. After mourning all afternoon and evening, Harley
is moving fast and free through Helen Kubler Ross’ stages of grief, and adding
a few of her own along the way.
But all is
not lost, as an opportunity to visit the ‘rents in Florida presents itself.
Harley is able to entice Poison Ivy along for the ride. This dovetails nicely
into next issue, as the girls will no doubt enjoy a Florida vacation full of
fun and adventure.
Otto Schmidt
handles a few pages this issue. While I enjoyed his work on Green Arrow, here
it seems out of place. Perhaps it’s rushed, perhaps he hasn’t gotten his
artistic head around the character, perhaps it simply a bad fit for his skill
set. I really don’t know. But I expected better from him. Hopefully he’ll have
another chance to put his best foot forward with Harley.
Overall,
I’ve enjoyed reading the Harley Quinn series as presented by Conner &
Palmiotti & Co. I’m pleased DC Comics is not beholden to a ridiculous
concern over continuity these days. I’ve seen her in other titles (such as a
recent outing with the Suicide Squad in Red Hood & the Outlaws), but no
mention of her bid for mayor or other events from her own book are mentioned.
There was time when DC Editorial would feel obliged to include a comment to
address continuity concerns, but those days seem over (for now).
