New York City has problems, not the least of which is the corrupt administration of Mayor DePerto. This makes Harley Quinn mad as hell, and she’s not going to take it any more. Rather than be a cry baby and take her ball and go home, she’s prepared to put her money where her mouth is and make a mayoral bid of her own.

As a launch for her campaign, she shuts down a ring of car thieves, much like a bonafide super-hero. This helps put a major dent in the city’s crime stats, insurance costs, and overall self-image, with promises of diverting funds for better use.

But of course, Mayor DePerto and his lady lackey, Madison Berkowitz, aren’t taking it lying down. Berkowitz is no longer the favored child she once was, and is dangerously close to being kicked to the curb by hizzoner. Desperate to save her political and literal heiney, she offers the mayor a possible ally that DC fans will appreciate.

After a break of the past issue or two, the team that creates the Harley series is back in form, clicking on all cylinders. It may not the wacky Harley Quinn we may have come to expect, but entering the political arena could just be the environment for this former Joker moll to flourish. Especially given the age-old axiom, “Power corrupts.” After all, it’s not like Harley has far to go.
