Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy show up at a party at Mr. Lodge where Betty and Veronica are dressed like the two villainesses. Amid the confusion with Riverdale’s local such as Archie, Reggie, Mitch, and Moose, Jughead, Sabrina, Josey and the Pussycats, some famous Gothamites, like Catwoman and Zatanna also join the fun. What will happen after this mess is over?

This issue was a mess and not fun to read at all. The novelty of having the switcheroo was forced and drained all pleasure from the reading about the situation as more characters were thrown in, not as cameos, but as major players. At the same time Paul Dini and Marc Andreyko tried to add some of the usual Riverdale teen-angst drama in the mix, creating an impenetrable and boring story. I should not be writing this to Dini and Andreyk but perhaps keeping their focus on one main story would have allowed them to play with switcheroo plot better. The extended cameo by Zatanna, Sabrina the Pussycats, and Catwoman did not improve a thing.

At least Laura Braga’s artwork was great and, in this issue although there was little to differentiate the real Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy from their Riverdale cosplay competition. It’s Halloween season. I saw a woman dressed as Harley Quinn in the subway last night. Her cosplay skills were incompetent as best. One would expect that if Betty and Veronica were cosplaying as Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, that their disguises would look like cheap imitations of the real thing too.
