Crisis continues on Mogo, as the weather is out of control – which, for a sentient planet, is hardly an encouraging development. Even more alarming is a Guardian has been critically injured, as well as Corps leader John Stewart. It would appear the entire Corps is under attack again. Sinestro Corps? Darkstars? We don’t know yet. Given that the battle with the Darkstars is still ongoing in the other Green Lantern title, they seem a likely candidate. But those that have challenged John Stewart and others appear nothing like the Darkstars, soo…

As for the stars of this series, Jessica is receiving clandestine communications from her ring, while Simon is a bit more of a hot-head than usual. But the death of a Guardian would unnerve most GLs, so maybe it’s a natural reaction.

This issue develops the story further, adding additional clues as to the nature of the antagonist(s), though no identity. Perhaps a surprise in waiting for next issue, though I hope it is no laughing mad man in the vein on Sinestro or Lex Luthor. I’m hoping for someone new.

Mike Perkins artwork continues to displease, though not as much as before. He appears to be settling in, growing more comfortable with the challenges of the title, and discovering how best to render its unique characters and concepts more effectively. I’m optimistic he will have a handle on it in due time, given the opportunity.
