Jessica
has a problem. Her ability to use her ring effectively is often hit or miss,
yet she has been tasked with removing a mind control device from the many
super-powered slaves of the Order of the Steed. It’s akin to performing surgery
on 20 people simultaneously.
Meanwhile,
Simon is battling it out with the leader of the Order of the Steed. A
shape-shifter, she is able to adopt the form of anyone, and in this instance
she chooses someone specifically intended to throw Simon off his game.
There is a nice balance between action and property development here. Drama and character share the stage in equal parts, planting seeds for the future, regardless of who may be at the helm of the series. I hope Tim Seeley's departure does not occur any time soon.
This issue
concludes our current story arc, which ties off the concept of a dating app for
super-heroes. It raised the question of a romance between Simon and Jessica,
which seems inevitable. As GL partners, they share a certain intimacy which
sometimes translates into romance (sometimes toxic romance). What becomes of this deeper relationship remains to
be seen. Stay tuned.
