Green Arrow is in a final showdown with the Vice Squad, a band of rogue cops out to wipe undesirables from the streets of Seattle. But a cop is still a cop, and Oliver & Co. have to tread carefully. Especially with Emi – ahem, Red Arrow, returning from Japan. I thought Roy Harper was Red Arrow. Or does he not exist in this Rebirthed continuity? So hard to keep them all straight.

But win or lose against the Vice Squad, Green Arrow will still have to contend with the real villain at large, Merlyn, the Dark Archer. And Oliver will have to deal with the more corrupt elements of Seattle’s elite. Managin one or the other shouldn’t prove to be too big an obstacle. But both? Well, we’ll see.

Otto Schmidt returns to art chores, and I couldn’t be happier.

He’s perfect on the book, and I love his rendering – not only of people, but environments as well. He has a finesse for background that reminds me of the work from older Friz Freleng cartoons. It seems so simple, yet conveys so much.

I’m not certain if this issue was meant as the end of one story arc before moving on to the next, or merely a bridge between the two. Some story elements have yet to be resolved to my satisfaction, but your mileage may vary. I have to add my voice to those that claim Green Arrow to be one of the strongest Rebirth titles.
