Grafenveer Set to Lead the Re-launch of SMASH! Comics with Second issue!
By Mike Gagnon

Bayville, NJ, March 31st, 2006 – The second installment of the hit fantasy graphic novel series, Grafenveer begins shipping May 1st and details revolving around its launch are already causing a stir among retailers and collectors.

Continued from the events of the Grafenveer Vol.1 graphic novel. This is the first comic book in the new SMASH! Comics re-launch and the flagship title for the line. Parent company Open Book Press has taken what works for their successful line of graphic novels; quality paper, perfect trade binding, excellent total production value, and SMASH! Comics has added to that a traditional comics book size format and competitive comic book pricing. This could very well be the start of a new trend dictating how comic books are presented to the public

The company decided to make Grafenveer #2 (ISBN 1-897290-06-3) its first comic in the new line of SMASH! Comics re-launch due to the popularity of the graphic novel and from input given to the company directly from fans. Input from readers given to the publishers at conventions and trade shows helped form the decision to present Grafenveer as a series of shorter, more affordable comic books as opposed to the graphic novel format used for the first installment of the story.

SMASH! Comics was a successful line of independent comics that ran from 2001-2004. Open Book Press acquired the comics imprint after the original parent company Lightningstrike Publishing closed its doors and liquidated its assets in early fall 2004.

The quarterly 4-part mini-series Grafenveer is written by Wayne Sanders and illustrated by role playing game artist Christian N. St. Pierre. Both creators have really outdone themselves and hit a high point in their careers. St. Pierre’s haunting artwork evolves and improves with every issue, and Sanders scripts weave a tapestry of modern day excitement within a realm of medieval action and intrigue.
