The
terrible secret of Olive Silverlock is revealed, as a centuries-old family
tragedy is exposed, leaving the oldest names in Gotham vulnerable. Can the
Batman protect the descendants from the vengeful wrath of Olive's ancestor?
Matters take a much darker turn, and perhaps Gotham Academy isn’t the charming
all-ages book I once thought it to be (not that I enjoy it any less).
With the
name Gotham in the title, it would only be a matter of time before Batman
assumed a much greater role than the feared urban legend the students believed.
But is he hero or horror? Well, the kids aren’t sure just yet, but compared to
others, he’s doing well for himself.
Like I said,
I am enjoying this book very much, mostly due to the artwork. It’s very
suggestive of animation, and I think this series would work well in animated
form. Whether it ever goes that route is extremely doubtful, unless a visionary
Warner Bros. exec greenlights the project, and it can be marketed effectively.
Hopefully
without giving too much away, the issue ends with a tease for the launch of the
final story arc launching next month. I look forward to seeing where Gotham
Academy and its cast eventually settle in the greater DCU.
