After his success with 'Kick Ass', Matthew Vaughn has been brought in to direct this next installment of the X-Men, 'X-Men: First Class'. Jane Goldman, whose stock has also risen after her involvement with 'Kick Ass' is also on board, helping with the screenplay.
It is rumored to be influenced by the comic series of the same name. Except in the big screen version, instead of the original X-Men, we may be seeing Charles Xavier and Eric Lehnsherr (Magneto) and possibly other characters we know and love (and love to hate possibly!) as youngsters honing their powers and skills. And more importantly, still as friends. This could present us with a lot of back story to help flesh out the X-Men mythology. It could also give us a hint at some of the rivalries that surfaced later in the main characters lives.
As well as some new mutant characters, I'm wondering if we will see a proper representation the Juggernaut, albeit as a young man (I know Juggernaut wasn't strictly a mutant, but what powers might he have had before his enchantment?).
We have yet to hear any casting news, but rest assured, as soon as we do hear anything, we'll be spreading the news!
