Ben Grimm, the Thing, dates his new girlfriend, while attending the premiere of the Johnny Storm’s band. The Hulk and his super villain crew capture Johnny Storm, the Human Torch and plug him in the same device that currently holds Doctor Doom. But hidden in the Hulk’s base, large villain lays dormant. What does he have to do with the Hulk’s plan?

This is a story without much story. There’s little happening here, except for the big fight with Johnny Storm and the Hulk’s crew. Although there are few developments, it is still an entertaining issue with enough cliffhanging material to make one to go read the next issue. The one thing this type of storytelling shows, is that compilations are probably where comic books should go next as this issue is filler.

I’m not a fan of Hitch’s work here. All his male characters look like George W. Bush. However, the action sequences are entertaining enough and of course done in cinema wide scope format. Perhaps that’s why the issue feels like such a quick useless read. It’s filled with giant posters.
