Electronic
Arts announced today that it has created platform specific
experiences for each version of
FIFA Soccer 09.
The game has been designed and customized for a unique experience
across each platform, taking advantage of the hardware specifications
on a platform by platform basis. So when the game releases worldwide
this autumn – on Xbox 360, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, PSP,
Nintendo DS, the mobile platform, PC and Wii – the experience will
be maximized for each system.
“
We
have listened and responded to gamers and soccer fans around the
world by building customized gameplay experiences for
FIFA
Soccer 09
on each platform,”
said Andrew Wilson, Vice President & Executive Producer for the
franchise. “Everyone wants to play a soccer game that is customized
to their system and delivers a unique and enjoyable experience. We
understand that and have innovated features, created new modes and
designed controls that are tailored to each specific platform.”
The
Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions have over 250 additions and
enhancements to the core gameplay, delivering an authentic soccer
simulation experience that lets you customize the game to your own
style and abilities. Animations are also updated now, creating more
responsive first-time shooting and passing, faster and more
controlled dribbling, and improved trapping. Momentum physics are
also updated, making player collisions more realistic and adding
variations in tackling.
The
innovative Be A Pro feature, introduced last
year, has been updated this year, and has been expanded to a full
career mode called Be A Pro: Seasons. Now, you can go deeper into the
“play as one specific player” style and develop your skills at a
single outfield position over four seasons.
The
match day experience is now true-to-life with a referee and linesmen
on the pitch. Plus, crowds, stadium atmosphere and commentary have
all been made region specific in exact detail.
Already
announced for the Wii version is the new All-Play
system, complete with an updated control system and special,
customizable play features, Footii Match mode and more. “You’ve
never played soccer like this before,” said Kaz Makita, Producer of
FIFA
Soccer 09
All-Play
.
“Our new ‘8 vs. 8’ Footii Match enables you to play an
exaggerated style of soccer where the personality of your Mii comes
to life. You can play with your Mii characters against or alongside
some of the biggest stars in a truly unique soccer experience
tailored specifically for the Wii version of
FIFA
Soccer 09
.”
The
PC version will deliver graphics that can fully take advantage of
high specification gaming PCs, another thing specifically requested
by gamers. Electronic Arts says it's going for ultra-realistic
gameplay, including star players featured in photorealistic quality.
Also included in the PC version are customizable mouse gameplay
controls that make squad command more intuitive and customizable
widgets integrated into the menu to connect you to the FIFA community
while playing.
The
Playstation 2 version has over 500 new animation sequences, plus new
collision and shielding systems. “The new collision detection
system with 360 degree coverage enables players to behave according
to their physical attributes where player speed, direction and
strength determine everything from the severity of the collision to
the outcome of possession.” The Nintendo DS and PSP versions now
include Be A Pro, including a unique Be A Pro camera that is supposed
to re-create the excitement of racing in on the net. The feature has
been tuned to fit both systems.
EA
says there are still more details to come later this month, and more
at Games Convention in Leipzig this August.
