The Deviants still want to fight them and America, in a world after the Civil War still fears them. Can a happy truce allow the Eternals to coexist with humanity and Deviants? And what about Sprite? He schemed to have the Earth destroyed. Will he pay the ultimate price for his acts? This issue was not necessary to end the story of the Eternals, but it showed where the next writer should take them when they appear in a comic book again. It’s a great story focussing on creatures that are more than men but not gods yet. The final showdown with Sprite is evocative and makes one feel sorry for that boy who would not age. As much as Zuras, the Eternal’s leader looks evil for his actions, in this issue, it almost seems like there was no other choice. Comic books who make you think like this and that leave a lingering taste, are great. Romita’s work is excellent as usual. What can be said more?
