Fan Films Egot By Hervé St-Louis December 31, 2004 - 20:18 Studios: Apocalypse Cartoons Directed by: Dean Packis Running Time: 7 minutes Philip Michael Thomas, the co-star of the 1980s’ Miami Vice is back in this story about his obsession for EGOT. What’s an EGOT? Simple, it’s an actor who receives an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony award. Starting in 1987, the cartoon shows Thomas’ quest for the elusive EGOT, which he predicted he would get within five years. A People’s Choice Award was not enough. The entire Webisode is a spoof on Thomas who many would argue was at the pinnacle of his career while on Miami Vice. The story follows loosely real live events surrounding Thomas, including losing his house to a bank in 1991 and becoming a host for television psychic line. Unfortunately, it’s not very funny. The cartoon is too long and lacks quick punches. Its boring. The animation is not complex. There’s but one photo of Thomas pasted on top of a various hand drawn bodies with limited animation. Some of the drawn bodies are quite funny, yet, they don’t match well with a photograph of a head. Kudos must be given to the creative backgrounds that help the project.
