Cheech and Chong, a comedic duo headed by Cheech Marin and Tommy Chong are back in a Flash-animated direct to home movie released by Fox Home Entertainment that will also play in a few theatre worldwide. Long time fans of Cheech and Chong may want to check out the new gags and spoofs of pot-smoking culture in this new movie. The movie is a series of short stories featuring Cheech, Chong and other characters.

Here is a disclaimer. I have never watched an actual Cheech and Chong skit although I’m fully aware of who they are. I was around when they were popular in the 1980s, but probably too young to really remember anything. The jokes are crude and vulgar although my favourite series of gags were the ones involving the screaming nun who works at an high school. She’s definitely my favourite.

The jokes revolve around drugs, cannabis, and its culture. I don’t smoke marijuana at all but wasn’t offended by the crass humour. However, if you are sensitive about such topic, skip this animated movie completely. It’s probably a good time to mention that this movie is not intended for children or I would add anyone under 18 years-old. If you’re an old fan of the duo, this new movie may please you.

The animation was as crude as the plot and the jokes. It’s really bad Flash animation the likes of which we don’t even see on television series made with Flash nowadays. This looks like something a junior crew of animators have worked on. It must not have cost the producers too much money. However, the voice acting is decent and probably adds more flavour to the stories than the visuals.
