Once upon a
time, there was a TV show called Dallas, in which one of the main characters
was killed off. However, at the end of the season, said character mysteriously
returned. It was explained that everything that had happened was all a dream.
It has been regarded as one of the biggest cheats in serialized fiction.
But Cave
Carson isn’t doing so badly either, as he relates an episode from his younger
days in which my somehow managed to rescue the Man of Steel. As I’m reading
through this inconsistent narrative, I am growing more and more dismayed.
It turns out
everything we have been told in this issue is nothing but a hallucination, as
Cave Carson lies comatose, recovering from wounds inflicted last issue. Or was
it two issues ago? So hard to tell. When the story goes nowhere/does nothing,
details of what’s happened so far become a tangled mess.
Heaven forbid
DC Comics waste the revenue to collect this in a trade, but if they do, they
can throw out all but the last three pages of this issue. Because as far as I
can tell, the others serve no purpose but to kill time until the next moment of
action. Oh, and let’s distract readers from how aimless this story is by
throwing in Superman.
Maybe
there’s a pot of gold at the end of this rainbow. I sure hope so, and I hope
it’s HUGE. But I’m not the least bit convinced.
