The stakes are high, as SHIELD has been implicated in a controversy and it will take all of the Captain’s skills to get bottom of it. This is Captain America, the way I like to see him, fighting fascists who are fear mongering and fighting the public. This issue and many before that are highly symbolic and show Captain America us the one man who stands between liberty and fascism. Of course, Brubaker plays it all at the intrigue level, but even with this new Captain America, which I didn’t initially like, I feel hope and the ideals of America and I want Captain America to win. Shrouded with layers of depth, this story is still about fighting the good fight and letting go of cynicism. We need more ideals and heroes like this. Butch Guice is doing some of his best work in years here and I like how his Captain America is stepped in that real gritty political thriller world.
