With events in Spain laid to rest, the new Bomshell chapter heads to sunny Hawaii, where a pirate radio broadcast seems to have adverse effects on those who listen to it. Black Canary is already on the scene, but is soon joined by Batgirls Alysia Yeoh and Felicity Smoak, as well as Bumblebee Karen Beecher.

Together, the four expect to investigate matters, but that’s assuming someone else doesn’t have a different agenda. More DC analogues are introduced, though I prefer to keep their identities secret in the interest of maintaining a spoiler-free review. You’re welcome.

Bennett paints a picture of happy-go-lucky teens on a romp, but with enough social conscience to support pirate radio stations throughout the free world. Well, good for them. Heaven forbid they enlist in the WACS or WAVES. But I get it, without these “heroes,” there would be no Bombshells. Or am I wrong?

But to the credit of Sandy Jarrell, the art this time around is much stronger. In launching a new story arc, perhaps the artist was able to start fresh, after the last one got bogged down. I suppose Jarrell wouldn’t be the first comic book artist to lose interest in the story they were drawing. Thankfully, that doesn’t appear to be the case here.
