To this end, the Lanterns orchastrate a perverse drama where both Dick and Tim are given an opportunity to 'prevent' their parents' deaths. We all know it is a trick but the feelings that this play-acting rouses, do look and feel real. The debate between Dick and Tim on whether they might actually bring their parents back, feels genuinely heartfelt and even though we know reason will triumph in the end, the struggle, both physical and emotional, is worth watching.

There is some cleverness in the way the heroes resolve the problem. They cannot hurt the zombies but with the help of Deadman and an unannounced (and unwilling) guest star, they somehow find a way to keep their hearts intact while escaping the seemingly-indestructible Black Lanterns.

The art, while powerful, is a bit rough. Some action scenes look good, but a few panels are a bit hard to understand. Many of the characters don't look too good either but then many of them are decaying zombies so maybe this is to be expected.
