Dinah Drake and her Band the Black Canary is fighting a bunch of trained men trying to stop them before they reach their next gig. If the band’s bus doesn’t show up in time, the gig will be cancelled. Will the Black Canary reach its next gig while fighting an army of villains?

This comic was a bit difficult to understand since Kurt, Dinah’s ex husband was captured by her in the last issue. Here he appears free again and leading his own private army. Next there is the rough introduction of the band’s bus driver. An extra character was shown in the first issue as a silhouette but there was no more information on this other supporting cast. This is odd and badly executed.

What I do like is the slow development of Bo Maeve as Dinah’s new arch nemesis. But she’s more like a Misfit to Dinah’s Jem and the Holograms. She has no powers. In a reality television series, she would be just the annoying bitch. I’m happy that this series has a lot of action.

Annie Wu’s work is still solid, although I continue to dislike the sneering Dinah she draws. The other characters all look great. So it’s a personal choice that she made about how Dinah looks. I like the variant wardrobe Dinah uses in this issue. It’s inspired from older depictions on the character from the first Birds of Prey special from 1996 while emulating the classic costume. Hey, Black Canary’s a good comic. I’m only critical because she’s my favourite female character!
