Batman has problems. The people of Gotham have turned on him in a big way. “Monster,” seems to be the common term they’re using. Even the police are ready to use lethal force. Oh, for the good old days when the Jokerz were the biggest threat he had to deal with.

Terry’s life isn’t going much better. Dana, his one-time girlfriend is soon to be his VERY ex-girlfriend, after catching him lip locked with another girl last issue. And his younger brother is still intent on being his sidekick, assuming he can stop bucking the system.

It’s something I’ve seen many super-heroes go through: a PR disaster, usually brought about by an evil doppelganger intent on discrediting the hero. But in the future world of Batman Beyond, the tactic could be anything: drugs, electronic brainwashing, a clone – who knows? It opens a whole new realm of possibilities.

This is only the second installment in the latest story arc, so there’s not so much meat on this bone. Building blocks of the overall story, but I trust Dan Jurgens. He’s a proven professional who can deliver a quality story. And Batman Beyond is worth staying tuned for.
